Highly Ionized Oxygen in the Circumgalactic Medium of TNG100 Galaxies: Distributions, Thermal States, and Ionization Mechanisms

We investigate the origin of the highly ionized oxygen species, O VI, O VII, and O VIII, in the circumgalactic medium (CGM) of galaxies at redshifts $z \approx 0$, by post-processing the outputs of the Illustris TNG100 simulation alongside analytic modeling.
