Low-Ionization Nuclear Emission-line Regions (LINERs) commonly host ionized gas outflows, but their role as high-energy particle accelerators remains debated, particularly following the very-high-energy $γ$-ray detection of NGC 4278, which implied extreme radiative efficiencies.
