Abstract

The high-frequency (HF) band, ranging from 3 to 30 MHz, is widely used in a number of applications such as beyond-line-of-sight (BLOS) communications and over-the-horizon radar systems. The long-range propagation characteristics of the HF band rely on the Earth's ionosphere as a refracting medium to establish BLOS wireless links.
