Phantom Zernike Wavefront Sensor: Phase Contrast with Engineered Focal Plane Reference Speckles

Abstract

We introduce the Phantom Zernike Wavefront Sensor (phantom ZWFS), an engineered reference extension of phase-contrast wavefront sensing in which controlled pupil plane modulation generates off-axis coherent speckle structures that undergo localized focal plane phase shifts.
